After more than a decade, Goodwill NYNJ returns to Somerset county on Thursday, October 13, 2016. The Bound Brook, NJ Goodwill store will be the only location in Somerset County and will employ up to 25 local residents, including individuals with disabilities.
On Thursday, October 13, Goodwill Industries of Greater NY and Northern NJ, Inc. will open its first Somerset County store here with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local elected officials at 9:45 a.m. in Bound Brook.
Mauricio Hernandez, Goodwill NYNJ Executive Vice President, Business Operations, says: “We are delighted to inaugurate this Somerset county location in Bound Brook. Goodwill NYNJ serves the ten most northern counties of New Jersey and we are committed to playing a vital role in serving the needs of the community.”
The 14,576 square-foot Bound Brook store and donation center will bring 20-25 new jobs to the community and will provide retail training and work for persons with disabilities. Customers will find high-quality new and gently used clothing and household goods at affordable prices.
Residents may contribute to the mission of Goodwill by donating unwanted belongings. The mission of Goodwill NYNJ is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.
Prior to the opening, the store welcomed donations. Because Goodwill is a not-for-profit organization, contributed items in good condition are tax-deductible, and receipts are provided upon request.
Since 1915, Goodwill NYNJ has helped residents re-use and re-purpose their unwanted goods. In 2015, Goodwill NYNJ diverted more than 117 million pounds of unwanted goods from local landfills, served more than 86,000 people and placed 7,500 individuals in jobs.
