Goodwill NYNJ Recognizes 100 Individuals with Autism

Nearly 250 guests joined us for our 5th Annual Autism Awareness event on Thursday, April 19. We presented Employment Awards to 40 program participants with autism who have secure and retain jobs and to 59 Day Habilitation program participants who have achieved their communication & independence goals. Also, we recognized six employers, who have hired some of our program participants, including CVS and JC Penney.

NY State Senator Michael Gianaris, David Aglialoro, District Director for NYS Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan’s office, and Niki Kokkinos, District Director for NYC Council Member Costa Constantinides office, presented citations to our program participants.

Family members, community residents and staff cheered the program participants who performed in the traditional talent show. Some sang, rapped, or strutted down the runway wearing clothes from Goodwill stores.
