Goodwill Opens New Store in Manhattan’s Upper East Side

We are delighted to inform our shoppers and donors that on Friday, November 18, Goodwill NYNJ will inaugurate its 14th store in New York City. Doors will open to the public at 10 a.m. after a ribbon cutting ceremony with elected officials.

The new Goodwill store and donation center is located at 1114 First Avenue (at 61st Street), New York, NY 10065. Hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Phone is (212) 355-5206.

The 3,400 square-foot Goodwill store and donation center will bring up to 20 jobs to the community and will also provide retail training and work for persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

This, the 11th Goodwill store in Manhattan, will offer high-quality clothing and household goods at affordable prices. Local residents may contribute to the mission of Goodwill NYNJ by donating unwanted belongings. The mission of Goodwill NYNJ is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work. Because Goodwill is a not-for-profit organization, contributed items in good condition are tax-deductible, and receipts are provided upon request.

Since 1915, Goodwill NYNJ has helped residents re-use and re-purpose their unwanted goods. In 2015, Goodwill NYNJ diverted more than 117 million pounds of unwanted goods from local landfills, served more than 86,000 people and placed 7,500 individuals in jobs.

Goodwill NYNJ will pilot a new financial capability and wellness program with the employees of this new store. Funded by Citi Community Development and facilitated by Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners, The Employer Solution will provide financial wellness services to improve the financial health of employees and create value for employers. This new initiative will then extend to all Goodwill NYNJ employees.
