Starting June 15th 2020, Goodwill NYNJ started our phased reopening of our store fleet. Stores will reopen with enhanced safety guidelines for shoppers, donors and employees including social distancing in stores, required face covering, one way shopping in aisles and contactless donations.
Goodwill NYNJ’s stores are here. This week we will open a total of 11 stores in NY/NJ including Troy, Vestal, Hudson, Bound Brook, East Northport, Pequannock, Rockaway, Elmwood Park, Wappinger, Vails Gate, Somers and Nanuet. The remainder of our NY and NJ stores will be announced over the coming weeks.
All of our stores continue to serve the community in all the ways you know:
- Your donation and shopping provide funding to our 50+ programs in the region focused on employment for those with disabilities, mental health diagnosis or any barrier to meaningful employment. Without our store revenue Goodwill NYNJ would not be able to continue to help over 26,000 people in New York and New Jersey on their journey to independence through employment. 90% of our programs are open with tele-services during COVID-19.
- A destination to live sustainably. Shopping and donating your clothing and goods means those items are not thrown into the landfill. Last year we were able to be a destination where 43 million pounds of clothing and goods were given a second life!
- Serve as a value shopping destination. great fashion at a great price. With our pre-loved goods we have everyday low prices which we know is so important in these ever changing economic times.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our fleet has been effected and we had to make tough decisions to permanently close store locations where the leases were expiring. This includes 5 stores in our region: 23rd Street in NYC, Fifth Avenue in NYC, New Rochelle, Paramus and Jersey City. We know that #GoodWillCome and hope to be able to rebuild as we navigate through this year. Currently there are 4 stores under review for a decision on reopening. These include: North Plainfield, Springfield, Fairfield in NJ and Kingston in NY.
We want to thank all of our shoppers, donors and employees for sticking by us during this time. Our goal is to continue to be your favorite destination for all of your pre-loved needs and continue to provide the lifesaving services to so many of our friends, family and neighbors.
Thank you for helping us Keep The Good Going!
