Lloyd Eddie Rowe, a US Marine Corps veteran, was living out of his truck in Morris County after separating from his wife. When Lloyd was referred to our Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) in April 2023, he had come to Morris County to attend his mother’s funeral and to visit his children.
Lloyd had experience working in oil fields at various levels. Our HVRP team advocated on his behalf to get an interview with a potential employer. Goodwill partners supported his basic needs, like food and clothing, and even gas assistance for him to drive to his interview. Thanks to Goodwill and partner organizations, Lloyd secured a job as oil field technician with Morrisson Oil Refinery earning $17/hr. on March 31, 2023. In addition, his employer provides him a place to live and a gas card to pay for his transportation.
Lloyd expressed his gratitude for Goodwill’s advocacy and wraparound supports, which helped him to get a job in record time.
