Sharmaine Williams is inducted in Hall of Fame

In honor of March, Women’s History Month, Strong Nonprofits for a Better New York inducted Sharmaine Williams, Goodwill NYNJ Senior Vice President of Workforce Development, in their Women in Human Services Hall of Fame. Sharmaine was recognized for her work and contributions to her community during an event at the NY state capitol on March 13 along with other notable women who work in the sector across the state.

Strong Nonprofits for a Better New York is a statewide campaign to increase investment in human services nonprofits. The campaign highlighted the critical work done by women like Sharmaine and estimates that 81% of the human services workforce includes women.

In nominating Sharmaine for this honor, our CEO & President Katy Gaul-Stigge said, “For nearly two decades, Sharmaine has devoted her professional life at Goodwill NYNJ to develop, implement, and manage successful workforce development programs to help thousands of New York City residents find meaningful employment. The programs she has overseen have helped find work for over 17,000 job seekers in Brooklyn, 9,000 in The Bronx, and 11,000 in Queens!”
